PCMS Member Benefits

Let's face it, it's not easy to be a physician anymore. Outside forces have doctors looking for ways to manage practice overhead as a means to improve the bottom line.

We understand your situation and have taken steps to help you in your everyday practice.

Take a few minutes to look over these brief descriptions of some of the programs and services we offer. Each is specially designed for our membership, and only our membership!

Please feel free to contact Emma Jensen, Executive Director, for more information, or if you have suggestions for products and services.

You can contact Emma via e-mail at ejensen@azmed.org.

Advocacy

Working with the Arizona Medical Association (ArMA) and our sister society in Maricopa County, the Maricopa County Medical Society (MCMS), PCMS strives to represent our physicians in the legislature to promote positive change on their behalf and in formulating health care policy. The Board of Directors frames the vast majority of the society’s legislative stances; however, we do have an ad hoc Legislative Committee that sits when needed. Members are encouraged to forward policy concerns and recommendations to BOD members or staff.

Physician Referrals

To aid the community and help attract patients to our members, PCMS offers a list of our member doctors (and soon specialty and contact information) to connect the patient with a physician that best meets their medical needs. PCMS is “the” community resource for physician information and referral. As a member you are on our list for referrals.

Engaging the Medical Community

PCMS hosts social and educational events throughout the year, allowing members to network and learn from peers. We work closely in this area with the Pima County Medical Foundation, which was founded by members several decades ago, and the PCMS Alliance, a philanthropic organization made up of member physician spouses.

PCMS Committees

The Society offers physicians opportunities to become more involved through a number of standing committees that support physician leadership, advocacy, communication, and professional engagement throughout Pima County.

Government Affairs Committee

The purpose of the Government Affairs Committee is to monitor, analyze, and advise the Board on legislative, regulatory, and public policy issues that affect physicians, patients, and the practice of medicine. The committee works closely with the Arizona Medical Association (ArMA), the American Medical Association (AMA), and other relevant organizations to identify advocacy priorities and support initiatives that strengthen the physician voice at the local, state, and national levels.

Membership & Education Committee

The purpose of the Membership & Education Committee is to support membership growth, engagement, and educational programming that aligns with the mission of PCMS. The committee works to develop strategies for membership recruitment and retention, enhance member benefits, support educational opportunities, and foster leadership development among physicians, medical students, residents, fellows, and early-career physicians.

Communications Committee

The purpose of the Communications Committee is to support clear, consistent, and effective communication between PCMS, its members, and the broader community. The committee assists with the development of newsletters, website content, social media initiatives, and other communication efforts that promote Society programs, educational opportunities, advocacy efforts, and physician engagement.

Mediation Committee

The purpose of the Mediation Committee is to serve as an investigative and recommending body to the Board of Directors regarding matters involving professional conduct, ethics, or medically accepted standards of practice involving members of the Society. The committee reviews concerns brought forward, conducts investigations when appropriate, and provides recommendations to the Board while supporting professionalism and accountability within the physician community.
