A Permanent Medicare SGR Fix Is Needed Now!
Under the leadership of the Texas Medical Association and in coordination with the Arizona Medical Association and every other state medical association across this country we are taking up a campaign to get 1,000,000 signatures on a petition to tell congress it’s about patient care and this stop-gap approach to the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate formula (SGR) problem is no longer acceptable.
It’s clear that after five years of frustration and no fix it’s time to enact a permanent solution. We believe a million signatures will go a long way in providing us the much needed ammunition to get Congress' attention regarding a permanent SGR fix. We cannot afford more congressional stall tactics.
We urge every PCMS member to sign the petition and ask that they also have their staff, family, friends and colleagues, and most importantly, their patients, to sign. Physicians cannot get this done alone. Every physician and patient signature counts in this campaign
The petition can be signed online at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/meltdown/. It only takes a measly 10 seconds to complete.
A flyer, available at http://www.azmedassn.org/publications/MedicarePetition.pdf, is designed to be given to patients, and provides a brief summary and the website link. We encourage you to make copies of the flyer and distribute them to your patients. We know physicians do not like to discuss political issues with patients; however, we feel this issue transcends politics, and patients' educated participation is most critical.
Let's Stop the Medicare Meltdown; sign the petition today and ask your patients to help you help them!
