Warren D. Eddy Jr. MD, ORS, d. October 29, age 88. Med school: Tufts. I/R Brooke Army Hospital. Offices: 1540 N. Norton, 601 N. Wilmot #98; Chief ORS at Kino 1980-1988. Retired in 1988. Very Active Member 1957-2009. He carried a Maine accent all his years in the Southwest. Dr. Dale recalled that when he was a resident, Dr. Hastings senior would not allow him to do any cases. One night a man came in after having his foot run over by a train. “I was so looking forward to calling Dr. Hastings in at 5 a.m., but who should be on call, Dr. Eddy, the nicest man in the world.” We did the case together.
Audrey Opulski MD, d. November 3, age 81. Med school: Vermont ’60. I/R St. Francis Hosp, Hartford. MPH ’70. Career around world in public health, but mainly with Pima County Health Dept. Member 1971-1997, served on PCMS Board 91-93.
W. David Jacoby, Jr. MD, Derm, d. November 25, age 66, (heart incident). Med school: Mich ‘69. I/R Henry Ford Hospital. Offices: 2530 E. Broadway (w/Otis Miller) then joined John Haradsen and Ed Rather on Carondelet (later NW office as well). Introduced Moh’s surgery to Tucson. Member 1975-2009.
George W. King MD, FP, d. November 23, age 87. Med school: Wash Univ ‘46. I/R Lutheran ‘47/Barnes Hosp ’47, St. Mary’s ‘50-51. Began practice as GP in 1952 and worked here for 40 years. PCMS secretary treasurer ’70-73; PCMS Board ’90-92. Served on many committees. Member 1952-2008.
Harry Lou Fontenova DO, d. in late December or early January, age 87. Med school: Des Moines. Began practice in Tucson in 1950 at Pima and Alvernon. Helped build Tucson General. Never a member.
Anna Rebecca Bartlett, Nurse, d. Oct. 12, age 97. Worked at Preventorium, which was located in the Gilbert Ray Campground, west of the Tucson Mountains. Dr. Klein recalls the building from when he was in Boy Scouts. The Preventorium was a place where children of TB sufferers went to prevent infection from their parents.

Phyllis Ethridge, Nurse, died Dec. 23, age 75. Entered St. Mary’s nursing school at age 17 and worked for Carondelet for 41 years, including director of nursing. Highly awarded throughout her long and excellent career.
