We&rsquo;ve identified a couple hundred bills that impact medicine so working in conjunction with the Arizona Medical Association, we&rsquo;ll take positions on each February 25. <p>GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATES INVITED TO MEET TUCSON PHYSICIANS: The society has formally invited all the gubernatorial candidates to come and meet Tucson physicians during the evening of May 11 so mark your calendars. We plan for each to speak, however the final format has not been determined. Stay tuned.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>KENNEDY ASSASSINATION IN CROSSHAIRS AT FOUNDATION EVENT: Basing his talk on his latest book <em>Why the JFK Assassination Still Matters</em>, Richard Buyer, MD will speak about that bleak day in Dallas and argue &ldquo;the major crime of the 20<sup>th</sup> century remains unsolved&rdquo;. The presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, March 9 as part of the Pima County Medical Foundation&rsquo;s Evening Speakers series.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Doors open at 6:20 p.m. Dinner, provided at no charge by the PCM Foundation, is served at 6:30.&nbsp; The lecture begins at 7 p.m. To attend, RSVP by noon, March 8 by calling 795-7985.There is no CME for this meeting.</p>
<p>RECRUITMENT ONGOING FOR PHYSICIAN MENTORS: Thanks to all who volunteered last month to serve as medical student mentors. However, we need about 20 more actively practicing community physicians to step forward. Medical students are hungry to experience what they call &ldquo;real life medicine&rdquo; outside the walls of academic or tertiary settings. <p>HISTORY COMMITTEE TOURS COCHISE COUNTY: Visiting the grave sites of Johnny Ringo and Warren Earp are only a small part of the Saturday March 13 history committee, day long excursion of Cochise County. Participants will also tour stage stop ruins, the Old Cochise Hotel and train hold-up site along with many others. There is no charge for the Dr. Stan Levin led outing.
